SAP Cloud ERP (formerly S/4HANA)

SAP Cloud ERP (formerly S/4HANA) is a modular ERP that integrates across business functions within an organization. It covers day-to-day processes and integrates with other data silos, including CRM.

The platform provides real-time data from internal and external sources to help you make better decisions. For instance, it can calculate the value of individual business cases or simplify the process of valuing your entire business.

Rebranding from SAP S/4HANA to SAP Cloud ERP 

In 2025, SAP simplified its product naming by introducing SAP Cloud ERP. This change was made to clarify what the product does and to make the buying process easier for customers.

For existing S/4HANA Cloud users, there's no need to migrate, relicense, or re-implement as the subscription and architecture stay the same.

All SAP cloud ERP solutions continue to be powered by:

• In-memory computing for real-time performance
• Embedded AI, analytics, and automation
• Industry-specific best practices
• Tight integration with SAP’s Business Technology Platform (BTP)

Deployment options

SAP Cloud ERP can be delivered in one of two ways:

1. Public edition: A ready-to-run, multi-tenant cloud ERP managed by SAP. Modification to SAP's code isn't permitted.
2. Private Cloud edition: A single-tenant cloud ERP with a private code base and data definitions.

While SAP advises against modifying its standard code, it may be unavoidable, or changes made to on-premise systems need to be retained. In these cases, Private Cloud is the only option.

In Public Cloud, SAP pushes mandatory software releases and updates, and the changes must be adopted within a limited time period. In Private Cloud, they are included in the service, but at the customer's discretion.
