TOTVS RM

TOTVS RM began as an HR and financial management system built for the services sector. It has since become the natural choice out of the TOTVS portfolio for businesses where people management is as operationally critical as financial management.

It is widely used in Brazilian education institutions, healthcare operators, and service companies with large headcounts.

RM can run as a standalone ERP or alongside Protheus, where Protheus handles back-office and supply chain operations and RM manages HR, payroll, and time-and-attendance.

Core functionality

• Inventory, purchasing, and billing: Material movement, replenishment, supplier and order management, contract management, sales reports.

• Financial management: Movement tracking, cash flow automation, budgetary control, withheld taxes and contributions management.

• Tax management: Digital tax bookkeeping, digital accounting bookkeeping, electronic invoices (NF-e, NFC-e), electronic transport documents.

• Asset management: Depreciation control, internal asset reporting, international accounting standards compliance, asset location tracking, asset inventory.

• Accounting: Data consolidation, balance sheet generation.

RM's depth in HR and payroll is its primary differentiator from other TOTVS offerings. Brazilian payroll is legislatively complex; eSocial compliance, union agreements, benefit structures, and attendance management all require specific localisation.

Companies that try to manage this in Protheus and find it insufficient often end up evaluating RM. For education institutions specifically, RM carries dedicated academic management modules not present in the other systems.

Outside of HR-heavy and education-focused use cases, RM's competitive edge narrows. Buyers from manufacturing, distribution, or agribusiness backgrounds are more likely to find Protheus or Datasul better aligned to their operational needs.

The asset management and accounting modules cover the core requirements but do not carry the same depth as Protheus in areas like multi-entity consolidation and advanced costing.
